William Coulter (1879 - 1960)

William, the son of James Coulter and Annie Coulter, was born at St James Terrace, Kinning Park, Glasgow on the 15th April 1879. 

He married Maggie Thomson, daughter of Alexander Thomson and Mary Buchanan, on the 1st July 1904. Maggie died in the Western Infirmary, Glasgow on May 4th 1910 from a diabetes related illness. William and Maggie had one son Alexander Thomson Coulter.


William and Alexander are recorded in the 1911 Census living with William's parents at 38 McLean Street, Govan, Glasgow.

In 1932, at the age of 53, William married Ellen Mewha, daughter of Samuel Mewha and Mary Rennie, at Speirsbridge Church, Thornliebank, Eastwood, Glasgow on the 15th July 1932.

William died at 10 North Park Terrace, Thornliebank, Glasgow on the 20th January 1960.

1. Alexander Thomson Coulter (1907 - 1932)


Alexander was born on the 1st September 1907 at 54 McLean Street, Govan, Glasgow. 

He was employed as an ornamental iron worker.

In 1931 he was living at 148 McLean Street, Govan, Glasgow.

He married Grace Downie Armstrong, daughter of Alexander Armstrong and Ellen White, at Plantation Parish Church, Kinning Park on the 16th January 1931.  He died six months later on he 28th June 1932 from tuberculosis.

Grace was born on the 1st November 1903 at 11 McLean Street, Govan, Glasgow. She was living at 141 Paisley Road West when she married Alexander. In 1942 she married John Clugston McKain. She died in 1992.
